I met Anthony today at Fleet farm when he offered to chip away the ice and snow that was affecting my tires. His selfless act in the cold weather warmed my heart. In the world we live in today, Anthony is a light. I would love to spread kindness to others as Em and her family do. I’m so sorry for the loss of your mother. It’s clear that her legacy lives on through the way you help others and share her story. Thank you for the kindness you’ve shown me—her spirit shines through you!

I had the pleasure of meeting Anthony, who offered to buy me my quick gas station lunch on a busy afternoon. I am honored to have been a recipient of such kindness done in honor of Em! To hear her story and see her name and gratitude live on is a beautiful experience. My condolences goes out to her family, and I will work to spread love and kindness as Em did and as her family continues to do so in her honor.

I just wanted you to know , I am recipient of one on the donuts that you paid for, in memory of your mom. Your mom has done a great job with you. So thank you once again. Cheryl

Very sorry to see that your mom passed, Mike. Sounds like she was a wonderful person.

I know how hard it is to lose your mom. My heart goes out to you.

Mike, I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family.

Jim, My condolances on the loss of your mom. She sounds amazing. It doesn't matter how old we are, losing one's mother is heartbreaking. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Our family are saddened by the death of Em and know she will meet her many loved ones in heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss. Although I never met her she sounds like a wonderful woman. May God bring you all peace during this difficult time.

She was a grand lady. We enjoyed her company with Dick and later with Mel. We will especially remember theatre nights at TCR. Em loved to tell stories but was a good listener and a good friend. Thinking of you. Mary and Rich Doyle

Celebrating the newest Angel in Heaven! I met Em when Mike brought her to South East Junior High School, in Iowa City, for our yearly Share Your School Day. Our students would bring a significant adult to join them in classes and follow their busy schedule as a junior high student. Mike, a teacher, brought Em and she charmed everyone with her warmth and curiosity. I knew stories of Em through dear high school friend Janet - our parents were educators in Cedar Rapids and Janet was so happy that her Dad found Em after the death of Janet's Mom. So I was honoted to know Em through two of her beloved children and to hear stories of her acceptance of everyone and her commitment to educating the individual student. Sending prayers for peace and strength.

Anthony, thank you for writing the beautiful tribute to your dear mother. Our mother and family had the good fortune of knowing Em before the pandemic set in. You were always so wonderful to her and she was so proud when you came to visit, took her on outings and brought her treats. Our deepest condolences to you and your extended family. Sarah Meek

Jim (and Chris) - so sorry to see about your mom. I hope everyone is well and healthy. My dad was "only" 91 when he passed. That generation seems to know how to live long.

I was saddened to learn of Em's death. She was a wonderful parent, teacher, and community volunteer. She helped make ours a better world. Rich Patterson
