Robert William Maher, 66, died surrounded by his family on Wednesday August 21, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, due to health Problems.
Robert (Bob) Maher was born August 14, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Henrietta (Sommer) Maher. Robert Loved his family and friends. He truly cherished every moment. His second family was with his Arbys family. Where he was the Assistant manager for 30 years. He loved his job and colleagues until he retired in 2016 due to his health.
Bob had many loves. The Cincinnati Reds topped the list, but close behind was the Miami Dolphins, comic books, books of all types, and he had a huge collection of Knives of all kinds. His pure passion was his family. Spending time with his brother, going to many of his favorite restaurants like Freddy’s or Metro Buffet. He loved being with his nieces and nephew. He will be missed by so many.
Survivors include his brother, Gary (Sharon) Maher of Iowa City, Iowa, , his nieces; Jessica (Chris) O’Brien of Coralville, Iowa, Joran and Rachel Maher, both of Iowa City, Iowa, Michelle Maher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wendy Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Nichelle Graf of La Marque, Texas and nephew, Kevin Maher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Vince and Shanna (Brinegar) Maher and a nephew, Daniel Maher. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
