Vaugh W. Hauser, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Iowa Veterans Home. A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The graveside will follow the visitation and be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Vaughn was born January 29, 1926, to Lester and Jessie (Offt) Hauser in Van Horne, Iowa. After he graduated from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. When he returned home, he married the love of his life, Cleo Noble, on December 8, 1946, in Brandon, Iowa. He gave many years of service to Cargill as a lab tech.
He loved music and was great musician. He started playing drums for the family band with his father and his brothers. Vaughn also played in many local bands playing country, Dixieland, and polka music. You name it, he could play it. During his time at the Iowa Veteran’s Home, he was known as “the drummer,” because if there was music he would always show up with his drum sticks ready to play. Vaughn also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 80 years, Cleo Hauser; children, Greg (Kym) Hauser, Connie Bills, Brad Hauser, and Amy (Mike) Sturtz; grandchildren, Jason (Clare) Hauser, Ben Hauser, Aby (Joe) Zahorik, Brandon Hauser, Alex Sturtz, and Hunter Sturtz; and his great granddaughters, Roxy and Alice Hauser; his brother Robert Hauser: along with many nieces and nephews.
Vaughn is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Dorothy Emery, Donna Cady, Clifford, Orville, and Gerald Hauser.
