Linda Colleen Shields, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with bone cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Linda was born July 24th, 1944, in Saint Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Anna Shilhon. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Cedar Rapids in 1962. On July 11, 1984, she married Leo Shields in Red Rock, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on family and love, until his passing in 2012.
Linda devoted much of her career to working at Rockwell Collins for 28 years as a team leader. She took great pride in her work and was known for her kindness, genuine care, and putting others first. She made a point to greet everyone and treat them equally regardless of their position.
At her core, Linda thought of others first, willing to give the shirt off her back. She gave freely of her time, spending 5 years working with people of disabilities at The Arc. Linda found joy in swimming, quilting and fishing, however, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family.
Linda is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Paula) Larson, Rod Larson, and Rick Larson, Terry (Dee) Shields, Mark (Kim) Hazelett, and Randy (Lisa) Shields. Her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her sisters, Pat, Dottie and Cherry.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
Linda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her unconditional love, generosity, and happy heart. Her kindness touched many lives, and her memory will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
