Delbert Lee “Del” Pattison, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Cremation has taken place and per his wishes, no services are planned.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; Sharon; son, Eric, of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Jenny McKinstry of Cedar Rapids; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and special friend, Jim McGowan.
Del was born on February 5, 1943, to Merle Jay and Grace Nellie (Farrington) Pattison in Oelwein, Iowa. He grew up in Fayette, Iowa, graduating in 1962 from Fayette High School and Upper Iowa University for two years before moving to Cedar Rapids. There, he met Sharon Helmick and they eloped to Elk Point, South Dakota, after a three-month courtship on October 2, 1964.
Del was a landlord for 36 years. He took great pride in the properties he owned and made things better than he found them. He loved numbers, followed the stock market, and always had a calculator with him.
Del was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard; sister, Betty; two nephews; and his son-in-law, Andy McKinstry.
