My heartfelt condolences to Olivia, Andrew, and her family. I’m going to miss her dearly and will be missing her daily messages to me on social media. I met her many years ago in the running community and we bonded since she was in the military and used to live in NM, which is where we use to be stationed. I’m going to miss you sweet lady, love you WindyCityBlues.

🕊️ Honoring Sonya Iannone Heilmann
It’s difficult to put into words the heaviness I’ve felt since hearing of Sonya’s passing. We first crossed paths through Culver—she was Class of ’89, and I was Class of ’87—but we reconnected years later when she reached out, ready to make changes for her health and her future.
Sonya was intelligent, passionate, and full of life. She carried the strength of a soldier, the warmth of a caregiver, and the heart of a devoted wife and mother. When she started her health journey, I had the privilege of coaching her for a short time. I saw firsthand her deep desire to show up fully for her family—especially for Olivia—and I genuinely cared about her success. I never stopped hoping she’d find her way forward. Her passing has deeply affected me, and I’ve been reflecting on just how precious and fragile life can be.
To her husband Andrew, daughter Olivia, and the entire Iannone and Heilmann families—my heart is with you. May Sonya’s memory be a blessing and her legacy live on in the many lives she touched.
With heartfelt sympathy,
James Paulus

Sending so much love to Andrew, Olivia and all the members of the family. I never met any of you in person, but through Sonya and especially her dear UH, Uncle Hector, I got to consider you a family that I could reach through words, one of Sonya's passions. Here from Under The Desert Sky she cherished enough to title her blog after it, https://whitesandsmoon.blogspot.com/
I am sending my heartfelt condolences and my faith that she will fly high in those skies she revered. Descansa en paz, beautiful soul. <3

Sonya and I along with one other were leaders for our daughters girl scout troop. Oh how she loved planning activities for the girls. While I worked hard taking care of the cookie time she searched for places to visit and for people to come and talk to the girls. We knew each other well and became closer through girl scouts. As our girls went to different schools we didn't see each other nearly as much but we still would send each other picture reminders of birthday parties or our doggies we had. She would remind me how much she loved seeing our Miley in the front window laying on the back of the couch as if she was waiting for Sonya and jock to stop over. She also would let me know when nice hot weather was coming as she knew me well and would tell me my weather was coming in the forecast. RIP Sonya. Until we meet again Sonya, give love to those much loved pups up there in heaven. And to Andrew and Olivia let us know if you need anything. We are thinking of you both and the family as well.
