My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who loved Dr. Renz and will miss him most dearly.

So sad to hear the news of Dr. Renz passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. As with many others Dr. Renz saved my life. Throughout the process my wife and I so appreciated his thoughtfulness, empathy and his willingness to listen. May God bless the family during this time.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Renz passing. My heart breaks for all his family, friends, and coworkers. I was not only a patient of his, I was a coworker. I worked with him numerous times with his pediatric patients at St. Luke's. He had a great bedside manner and treated the nurses with respect as well! Very kind and personable. Our medical community will surely miss his excellent skills and knowledge. Keep the love and memories in your heart to help you through this time! A great man, gone way too young!

So sorry to hear of the loss of Dr Renz. He was a great man and cared deeply for his patients. I know it was hard to tell us hard news that he couldn't do anymore about. Thank you.

Dr Renz was a valuable member of our surgical group. His advice was sought and his opinion respected. His surgical skill was exemplary. Cedar Rapids will miss such a valuable asset.

Our hearts are heavy since hearing the news of Dr. Renz’s passing. He has been our surgeon on several occasions during the last 5 years. We will definitely miss him and want to send our most sincere condolences to his family and coworkers.

How truly sad to hear of Dr. Renz's passing. I met him twice and those two times made a lasting impression on me. He helped save my life and I will be forever grateful to him. During our visits, he made me feel so safe and comforted. Truly a professional with a beautiful bedside manner. I will never forget him. I'm so very sorry he left this world...may his legacy bring warmth to your hearts on the most difficult days and may his memory bring you smiles when you need them most.

Gone far too young. My condolences to all his family. James was one of the two surgeons who did the difficult operation on my late husband's colon cancer giving us four more great years together. He was enormously capable and had a contagious smile. He leaves a void In our medical community.

My deepest sympathy to Dr Renz’s family and staff. I was honored to have him as my surgeon multiple times over the past 20 years as he was my father’s surgeon also. He was kind, caring and thoughtful with me and always took the time to ensure I was comfortable in his care. He will be more than missed. I am so very sorry for your loss. When someone we love becomes a memory, the memories become our treasures. Keeping you in my thoughts snd prayers~

Dr. Renz was a special doctor, caring and helpful through all of the tough times. He was my breast cancer surgeon in 2006, and I was relieved he would be there for me when I had cancer again 2021. He was always ready to talk through the hard decisions with and helping hand and wonderful grin. He will be missed. God be with the family in your loss.

Dr. Renz literally saved my life. Always kind, charming and compassionate at my bedside. It breaks my heart to see him gone at 53. Sending thoughts of comfort to his family and friends.

I’m so sadden and shocked by the news of Dr Renz. I was with my sister when Dr Renz found out my sister had stage 4 colorectal cancer 16 years ago (about the same age Dr Renz was now) By the grace of God, she is still with us. I can’t tell you how compassionate he was and how glad I was to have my sister in the hands of a doctor that was so caring. Years later he was MY doctor and guided me through a difficult medical issue. He will be so missed by his patients and I feel blessed to have had him as my doctor. God bless his family and may he comfort them during this very difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Renz. He provided me with excellent care and treated me with kindness. My deepest condolences.
