P. James “Jim” Renz, III, Age 53, of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom from 4 to 8 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Wednesday, November 30, at 11 AM with a family friend, Judy Ramsey officiating. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website under Jim’s obituary under the video tab starting at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 30 at 11 AM. A celebration of life luncheon immediately following the services at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Jim was born on May 1, 1969, in Hammond, IN. He is the son of Dr. P. James Renz, Jr. and Linda (Woody) Renz. He was a general surgeon with PCI - Surgical Specialists for 21 years. Jim was a member of the Cedar Rapids Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing whenever he could. He loved his dogs including, Cooper, Beau, Bernie, and Benson. He was a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Fellow, American College of Surgeons. Jim served as a board member of PCI as well as a board member of the Surgery Center.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory are his daughters, Madison Renz of Des Moines, IA and Megan Renz, of Cedar Rapids, IA; the mother of his children, Carol (Renz) Theiss; of Cedar Rapids, IA; his fiancée, Jenna Winkie of Cedar Rapids, IA; his parents, Jim (Linda) Renz, Jr. of Venice, FL; his sister, Julie (Jeff) Sperring of Fishers, IN; a niece, Ally Sperring, of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace (Louise) Woody and Dr. Paul James (MaryAnna) Renz.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the love and support they showed Jim while he was in their care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Helen G. Nassif Cancer Center and or to the Last Hope Animal Rescue.
