She created a Humane Education program for school aged children to help them understand the interconnection between people and animals and to promote respect for the animals around us.  Karen was very devoted to her Catholic faith and sang in Epiphany Catholic Church choir in Minnesota for two decades. She took great pride in being a mother to the children she raised as a stay at home mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved daughter, Georgia.
