Charles “Chuck” Henry Horn, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on September 22, 2026. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow.
Charles was born on October 8, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Henry and Edna Horn. He has one sister, Rosemary Smith, and a brother, Robert (Edie) Horn. Chuck married the love of his life, Cecilia Cavanuagh, on June 9, 1961, in Iowa City. Charles was the first in his family to attend college and obtained an electrical engineering degree. Chuck worked at Rockwell Collins after college and then became a manufacturer’s representative serving clients across Iowa and the midwest through his company C.H. Horn and Associates.
Charles is survived by his seven amazing children, Susan (Dave) Erenberger, Michael Horn, Brian (Lynn) Horn, Julie (Chet) Cavanaugh-Bill, Debbie (Brian) Lawrence, Amy (Dan) Penley, and Lisa (Tod) Neidt; grandchildren, Julie Marie, Kristofer, Charli, Jacob, Mariah, Jason, Casey, Josephine, Korey (deceased) Amber, Scarlett, Caleb, Bryce, and Lincoln; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia and his parents.
“Dad/Grandpa/Pops” was loved by all who knew him - he had an unforgettable personality and sense of humor making all those around him smile. Chuck was an organizer and not only ran a successful business but instilled a sense of family and dignity in all he did. He loved life and spending time with his children - golfing, fishing and travelling. He will be greatly missed.
