Anita  Freeman, 88, a resident of Cedar Rapids died at Living Center East on Wednesday after a short illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Monday.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Lain, two sons, Jerry (Betty) Ford and Terry Ford all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Rebecca Lain, Nicholas (Karin) Ford, Jennifer (Thomas) Ford-Chatfield, Andrew (Shannon) Ford, and Benjamin Ford; thirteen great grandchildren, and her lifelong best friend Margaret Caywood. Anita was lovingly known as “Grandma Skeets” to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and one brother.

Anita was born on June 22, 1925 in Marshalltown the daughter of Edgar and Ada Taylor Stewart. She married Donald L. Freeman on December 3, 1949 in Iowa City. Don passed away in 1986. 

Anita worked in retail at several Cedar Rapids Department Stores and was a member of the Elks and VFW Auxiliary. She was a fun loving person who enjoyed all types of music, dancing, playing board games and bingo. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her beloved family and friends. Anita’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
