Visitation 4:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Special Tribute at 6:30 PM. Celebration of Life date TBD.
Beloved husband to Sharon; father to Stephanie (Julio), John (Karen) and Jason (Jenny); grandfather to Harrison, Luke, Anna, Ben, Alex and Gigi; honorary father to Matt (Jeanne); brother to Sandra, Dick, Tom, Bob, Bill and Helen; brother-in-law to Melanie (Tom) Raulerson; uncle, grandfather, and father figure to multitudes.
Terry was an ardent traveler and outdoorsman who embraced life with gusto and could turn any setback into a grand adventure. A retired teacher who loved driving the “Warrior Wagon” for Cedar Rapids Washington High School, he was also a talented actor and singer, avid photographer, camera collector, model train enthusiast, brilliant cook, would-be farmer, voracious reader, chess player, artist, carpenter, electrician, poet, and consummate family man who never met a stranger.
Held forever in the hearts of his relatives and chosen family, he was welcomed Home by his wife Sharon and her parents and sisters; parents Erma and Paul Shaffer; siblings Helen, Tom, Dick, and Sandra; daughter-in-law Karen; and nephew Robert
