Dear Marilyn,
I just wanted to share how much I enjoyed Doug’s way of making everyone he interacted with so comfortable. I always looked forward to talking with Doug because Ii knew I would feel better after my contact with him. He was a special human being. He made a difference . A warm and wonderful positive difference. So many people are better for knowing him.

I worked at Van Buren in the early 80’s when Doug was our speech clinician and I enjoyed his humor and stories. My son was eleven then and was beginning to enjoy fishing so, of course, Doug gave him some of his “special” lures and various material so my son could learn to make his own lures. From his obituary it seems my story was just one of many! My sympathy to you all, Marilyn Hopcus
