Janice was born December 10, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Sam M. and Fannie (Kacere) Haddy.  She married the love of her life, Charles Garon Abraham Sr. on July 22, 1956, in Cedar Rapids.

Janice was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, and she graduated from McKinley High School in 1954.  Janice participated in high school and church choirs and served as the lead vocalist in two major high school musicals.  She went on to attend college at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa for one year.  She studied music there and was an avid vocalist.  She continued to have a love of music for her entire life.  Janice and her husband, Charles, traveled throughout the United States and internationally, where Charles lectured in the field of wigs and wig design.  Janice worked at Mabeline Beauty Salon, where she founded and developed a clothing and jewelry boutique.  One of Janiece’s true loves was cooking and baking.  She joyfully shared her passion with family and friends, and she loved to entertain.  She was a devout member of her beloved St. George Church for her entire life and was President of the St. George Ladies Auxiliary for several years.

Janice shared her life, side by side with her childhood sweetheart and life companion, Charles, with whom she formed a wealth of treasured memories over the span of 58 years.  Her greatest pride and joy was in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Janice is survived by four sons, Dr. Charles Jr. and wife, Donna, of Cedar Rapids; Terry and wife, Tami, of Ft. Myers, FL; Jeffrey and wife, Jeannete of Cedar Rapids; Christopher and wife, Lisa, of Cedar Rapids; and one daughter, Kimberly and husband, Dr. Clayton Parks of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren, Sarah (Dr. Tony) Schlorff, Dr. Matthew (Aleshia), Dr. Charles III “Chip” (Dr. Jess), Taylor, David, and Jeffrey Abraham; Dr. John Charles (Sydney) and Lindsay (Michael Rifae) Parks; Jeff and Cale Fisher; one brother, Gary Haddy of Cedar Rapids; a brother and sister-in-law Dean Abraham, Sr. (Shirley) of Scottsdale, AZ.  Janice is also survived by five great grandchildren, Charlotte, Mason, Audrey, Brooks, and Benjamin.

Janice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles and by her parents, Sam M. and Fannie Haddy.

Memorials may be directed to the St. George Cemetery Fund in her name.

Janice’s family wishes to express their deep and sincere appreciation to the loving staffs at Grand Living at Indian Creek and the Dennis and Donna Hospice House of Mercy, who so tenderly cared for her during the past few years.
