Betty Lou Ennis, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.
Born on January 20, 1927, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to Roy and Hallie Hayes, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was married to Joseph Ennis, who preceded her in death. Together they raised four children — JoAnn Ennis, Kenneth (Kelly) Ennis, David Ennis, and Tim (Kristin) Ennis — and were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A lifelong homemaker, Betty found joy in caring for her family and maintaining a warm, welcoming home. She was a faithful member of St. Matthew’s and St. Patrick’s churches in Cedar Rapids, and later of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Salem, Illinois.
Betty was an avid sports fan and golfer, always up for an adventure — whether it was a road trip, a new experience, or a motorcycle ride. She lived life with energy, curiosity, and an enduring spirit of fun. Though sometimes stubborn, she was always well-intentioned, guided by care, conviction, and a deep love for her family.
A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Cedar Memorial.
