ROSE ARLENE (LEWIS) FAINE BLAIR ascended to her heavenly home on February 11, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rose was born on April 23, 1931, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Victor and Marie Lewis. She was raised in Fort Dodge with her five siblings, where she later met and married Dr. Fred Faine in October 1949. They made Storm Lake their home, where they raised their family of six children. In 1967, they founded Faith, Hope & Charity, a home for special needs children. Dr. Faine died in March 1972. She later married Paul Blair in 1974 until his death in 2007.
Rose is survived by her six children: Paula Roberts, Anthony Faine, Melodie (Jim) Tate, Dawn (John) Andersen, Rick Faine and Brenda Faine. She is also survived by grandchildren Heather Pittman, Jennifer Flowers, Brett Faine, Jeff Faine, Anthony Tate, Adam Tate, Tyler Andersen, and Abbie Andersen and eleven great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her stepchildren, David (Susie) Blair and Richard Blair; step-grandchildren, Megan Reed and Pat Blair; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, husbands (Dr. Fred Faine and Paul Blair), five siblings (Clara Atherton, Carl Lewis, Larry Lewis, Nancy Wybrew, and Billy Lewis), granddaughter April Roberts, grandson Andrew Tate, and daughter-in-law Kathie Faine.
Rose was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She was an avid golfer, quilter, doll maker and seamstress. Above all, she was a devoted mother to her six children, cheering for them on countless sporting events. She participated in a quilting group until her move to Cedar Rapids in May 2023. We are deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Country House Residence and Suncrest Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Faith, Hope & Charity, 1815 W Milwaukee Avenue, Storm Lake, Iowa, 50588.
