Dennis (aka Denny, Pete, Captain) Ray Peterson, 78, of Lake Viking, located in Gallatin, Missouri, passed away on August 4,2025.
He was born on April 13, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Merle and Yvonne Peterson. Denny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to many.
He retired from UPS in 2018 after 22 years there. Previously, he was a realtor and was in the home improvement business for many years.
He is survived by his wife Wendy; his children, sons, Chad (Rachel), and Kiel; grandchildren, Liam, Kinnick, Maddie, Ina, Cora and Mira; sister, Diane Hawkins; nephew Nikolas, niece Caitlyn (Joey) Lien and 2 great nieces, Sylvia and Hazel; his kitties, Tink, Mama, and Pee Wee. Also surviving were his many, many friends!
He loved anything sports related, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs and especially watching his granboys play football and basketball. He also loved to travel, play golf (mainly his Key Lime Open Tournament on the 4th of July), go boating, and fishing until his Parkinson's Disease took that all away from him. He also greatly enjoyed all the kitties that Wendy rescued over the last 47 years, and they all absolutely adored him.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, 2025, starting at 1:00pm followed by graveside service at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family who will then donate to various organizations such as Parkinson's Foundation, American Heart Association, and quite a few more that he supported.
