I noticed Terry's obituary said the word soccer four times, the word referee twelve times but did not mention God once. Did Terry go to church?

I met Terry in Dallas, Texas when he absolutely destroyed me in an assessment as a center referee. He seemed to really enjoy being a soccer referee. I hope and pray that he accepted Jesus Christ in his life.

Terry will be know as a top level referee but, beyond that, will never be forgotten for the content of his character. He was THE gentleman of the referee world and one of the best practitioners of the golden rule I have ever known. A class act gone way too soon.

Thinking of the family. Such a long hard illness. You were all such a comfort to him. Pam we love you and are thinking of you at the very sad time.

To the Vaughn Family and Friends, I didn't know Terry very well, but having spent a life in the soccer world I very much know of his legacy and what he's accomplished. People use the term "pioneer" too much but Terry was the epitome of reaching new heights......being an Iowan in a football/wrestling world and breaking through to such a high level in soccer makes me proud for so many reasons........and because he was one of the absolute best to do it. I played high school in CR in the mid/late 90's and had Terry officiate several games. Many years later my senior year of college I was playing in the College Cup in St Louis and Terry was the 4th official. I went to check in for the game and Terry turned to me, winked and said "Let's go Hawks." It was a great moment that showed he knew players and the game brought us all together. My deepest condolences to the Vaughn family and close friends - he was taken too soon but his legacy will absolutely live on forever.

TV was a great role model both on the field and off it. He helped so many people. One thing that really sticks out to me is that everyone liked TV. In the referee world, especially when you work the profile of matches TV did, this is unheard of. TV was a genuinely great guy and this showed through in everything he did, the world was a better place because of him. Thanks for all you've done for us TV!

Kim, Kyla and Family, My deepest condolences on your profound loss. Peace to you all. - Sandy

As an original MLS fan, I am saddened by Terry's loss. He was an amazing referee. (Big praise from a Galaxy fan.) He was always fair. When he retired I knew there would never be another ref like him. I am so sorry for your family's loss. Rest in Peace Terry....you deserve it.

Vaughn Family- thinking of all of you during this time. I never met Terry but know how much he leaned to you all. I have loved hearing about him from Kyla over these past several years. Lots of prayers for healing during this time.

We lost not only a great friend, referee, son, but more importantly a great father and husband. Rest easy on the pitch in Heaven. God speed my friend.

A great man and person....Was never afraid to share his knowledge of the game....Will truely be missed!
