How many miles did the Gazette drivers put on their vehicles? How many paper carriers did Jim get to know after all those years? Those "paper boys / girls" would be over 60 now. Be it, weather, flat tires, (55) speed limit, climbing gas prices, Jim was there to do his job as was my father Emil. Here is a list of the other drivers who left the Gazette traveling out of Cedar Rapids in different directions, Tom Mann, Garth West, Godfrey and Mike Votrobek, Emil Stolba, all who Jim said good and bad things about.
I want to thank you for taking our Collie dog, Mucha those many years ago. She was tied up at her dog house when we had her. She was able to be a "farm dog" on your farm. Jim shared stories about her, one being she sat at the gate he left open one night which prevented the cattle from exiting. I'm sorry to hear of Jim's passing and also learning two of your daughters passed prior.
