We extend to Signe and the extended Munson Family our deepest condolences. Although we did not have the pleasure of knowing Robert, it is clear he gave much of himself for others and made our world a better place. We are holding you close in thought at this incredibly difficult time. May you find peace and comfort in nature's beauty, even in the midst of your sadness. -Nancy Lackner and the Indian Creek Nature Center staff team

We are sending our deepest condolences to Robert’s family and friends from the Japanese Program at the University of Iowa; we are absolutely heartbroken to hear about Robert’s passing. Robert graduated from the Japanese Program in 2011 and took a master's degree in foreign language education in 2015. He took classes with us throughout, so many students and faculty members got to know him over the years. I know I speak for everyone when I say that he left such an impression on us; I remember him as a great student, of course, but beyond that, as such an extraordinarily thoughtful, engaged, and caring person. We broke the news to his former classmates, and a number of them wrote back with messages they wanted us to pass on to you: “Robert and I had Japanese classes together and I remember him as a classmate who was kind to everyone with a great sense of humor.” “Such a great guy. He will be missed by many.” “He was always funny, kind, and would talk with everyone. And of course, he was awesome at Japanese, too.” I hope there is some comfort in knowing what an impact Robert made everywhere he went in the time he had.

To Signe (family), my deepest condolences to you on the loss of your son! What a great life he had to have lived for those years too! I never knew Robert, one person I know is his kind & caring Mom, Signe thru my career w/ CC. Signe treats everyone with so much kindness & compassionate no matter where they live or what they had in life! Signe always has gave being a kind & caring person always as a way of life! I am so very sorry Signe on your son passing away! You raised Robert well - his tribute of life from his legacy of life leaves to others - from all the positive's that he gave both his time & talent to others: he made a positive difference in many ways. CC aide, Kim CF

Signe: I have been thinking of you so deeply. The tribute written on your son was amazing. Can't believe all he did in such a short time. You have always had such a special place in our family's heart and now our hearts are breaking for you. Tracy Roberts Signe: I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I remember when you were taking care of Jack Senior how you talked so lovingly about your young son. Then to read his obituary and all his accomplishments as a young man was amazing. My heart and prayers are with you. Zakea Adams

Word cannot express how sorry we are at a loss of losing my our cousin Robert. I hate I can’t be there, but since I’m sick it can’t be helped. I’m thankful to have seen Robert at our family reunion. Where we had hugs shared and told each other we loved each other. Our hearts are broken for cousin Signe losing a child and the rest of the family. It might have been just summers but I got the pleasure of watching Robert grow into an awesome young man. Since, I went into teaching I’m so proud of what he did in his short life. He did more good in his short time on Earth then most people do in a lifetime. The world’s less bright without him in it. We will miss you so much. I bet your already writing up in heaven. We will miss you cousin, I still can’t grasp that your gone. Prayers to all his family and friends. Love your cousins, Elysa, Marie and Travis.

Tears alone cannot express the loss of Robert. From sharing an elbow pump to conversations about life; he made those around him fill important. Robert was kind, genuine, intelligent and talented. His singing, dancing, skating, laughs and smiles will live on at Lawson Elementary. The Lord gained an amazing, talented person and those living gained an angel. May Robert’s family, friends and all who he worked with be lifted up in prayer.

Sig and Mike, I'm saddened to hear about your son. Please accept my deepest sympathies and my god rest his soul.

Signe: we are so sad to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

I send my deepest sympathy to the family of Robert. I worked with Robert in Perry and found him to be a very kind and gentle advocate for all students, especially multilingual learners. Signe and family I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a great memory of our children spending a day at Lake Delhi. Prayers and love to you all.

I was saddened to learn of Robert's death. My thoughts go to his family at this difficult time. Rich Patterson, Director Emeritus, Indian Creek Nature Center.

We are shocked and saddened by the loss of Robert at Wallace Elementary. He touched many in his year and a half with us. Robert travelled the building with his little teaching cart...his tall self pulling that little cart behind him. The sight made me smile. He was so natural and genuine with children. What a gift! Robert spearheaded a "Wear Orange for Unity" event at our school in October that promoted kindness and compassion for those different from yourself. He talked about making it even better the second year. Robert, I will miss seeing you every day in my building "travels". Rest in the peace of the Father.
