Matthew S. Strawn, 35, of Kent, Washington, formally of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away from complications of asthma. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Springs of Life Church, 2300 26th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52405 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1 PM. Inurnment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Matthew was survived by his parents Mary Strawn (Rick) and Michael (Becky) Strawn, sisters Katie (Lance) Angstman, Brianne (Pinaki) Das and Amber Kinnison; Grandmother, Patricia (Peter) Schmitz; Grandfather, Allan Strawn. Godmother, Jenora Malamphy, many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Jane Carpenter and JoAnn Strawn; step-mother, Nedra Strawn.
He was born on September 25, 1985 in Marshalltown. Matthew graduated from Jefferson High School in 2004. Following his graduation, he attended Kirkwood Community College and then finally Kaplan University. He previously worked for
United Airlines International Division, and Nordstrom in Cedar Rapids and Seattle.
The last 5 years, he was employed as a Senior HR Advisor for Randstad Sourceright in Washington state.
