Fred & family, So sorry to hear of Edie's passing. I always enjoyed seeing her as a nursing instructor up on the general medical unit when I worked at St. Lukes. She really knew her stuff. Then I learned that we were neighbors and that "Cowboy" worked with my dad at the meat packing plant. It's a small world. I loved visiting with her on the many walks that she took around the neighborhood. She will be missed.

Edie was one of those women that you did not want to disappoint or let down.. but I respected her fierce dedication to her family and I think she respected my dedication to her daughter who is my closest friend. I believe Edie was ahead of her time by about 30 or 40 years because of her dedication to her career and her high involvement with her children. She was so proud of her children and I think Laura's best confidante and friend and I know she will be missed very much. She and Fred were quite different but a dedicated and wonderful couple and I am so sorry for Fred's loss. Big hugs to Jeff to let him know we're thinking of him as well. Edie helped my parents quite a bit in the last few years and we will miss her humor and energy. Hopefully in heaven there's a TV playing and she's dozing after a life of good work

Edie was one of my absolute favorite nursing instructors at Kirkwood, her gift of compassionate teaching has stayed with me over my 30 years of nursing. May your family find comfort in knowing how very special she was to her students and because of that she indirectly touched many, many lives.

Edie was one of my favorite nursing instructors at Mt Mercy in the early 80's. Really a wonderful human and teacher. Im grateful for all she taught me. Condolences to her family.

Edie was one of my St Luke's classmates and we were in the same grouping according to the letters of our last names. We seldom worked together since we'd be on different floors or different times, but we were together in the classrooms and dorm, and I was amazed at how little time she spent NOT studying! It seemed as though she didn't take many breaks or stretches; she was so dedicated and a joy to be around when we did gab a while with her roomie and some others from across the hall. She had a lot of humor to add to the conversations. May the Lord fill the void in your lives with His comfort and love. Carol Schuldt, ret RN

Mrs. Nekola was one of my nursing instructors at St. Luke’s in the mid 60’s. She was a very intelligent kind nurse and a good role model to us students. Then maybe 10 years ago I sat by her at a play at the Paramount Theater and we “caught up”. Sending my condolences. Diane Sandvick Krejci.

One of the finest Nursing instructors at Kirkwood. I shall never forget her compassion, her patience, her skills in teaching new students all about Urology. She was a master. She made learning fun. Please accept my deep sympathies on this great lady's passing.

Deepest sympathy to Edie's family. Glad to hear Laura is doing so well. Thinking of you at this sad time.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I remember Edie from the Mount Mercy nursing department. She was a compassionate nurse and instructor. Please know you are in my thoughts ands prayers. She was a special lady.
