I met Skippy years ago in an exercise class and have always felt lucky to have known such an intelligent, witty and always fun lady. She shared her life and stories so easily and gave me forget me nots from her garden so have a lovely remembrance of a beautiful friend. With sincere sympathy to her family. Patricia Gonder

Skippy was such a joy, always ready with a beautiful smile and so loved the Pi Beta Phi that we had in common, she as a 75 year member this year. She will be sadly missed - may her memory be eternal!

To the Bell family - please accept condolences from my brother, Pete, and me on the loss of Skippy. So many memories from so many years ago - watching fireworks from your front yard, our parents making the epic Rose Bowl trip to see the Hawkeyes, and seeing her when Mom was in Cottage Grove Place briefly. She still had that great sparkly smile. You are in our thoughts.

I was saddened to learn of Skippy's death. She was very helpful to the Indian Creek Nature Center when I arrived here in 1978. Working with Alexandra Tomes and Jeanne Blahnik Skippy raised funds and commissioned an artist to create the stained glass stabile that hundreds of thousands of people have enjoyed in the past 40 years. My thoughts go to her family and friends. Rich Patterson

Skippy was a treasure. With those beautiful dancing blue eyes, it’s no wonder blue was her color. Growing up, our family would go to the Bells on Country Club Parkway for the annual Fourth of July picnics. Jack had purchased an old fire truck and brought it out for the parties. It was a lot of fun to be at those parties! I remember Skippy faithfully sending my parents birthday cards. She and mom were in a “Sewing Club” and we children all had play dates with various sewing club moms being in charge. I think Skippy was the last surviving sewing club member. Skippy was a dear friend to my parents and especially my mother at Cottage Grove Place. They had a lifelong friendship. My deep sympathies go to Dana, John, Jimmy, Jo, John, Beth and their families.
