Larry Renfer, Sr., 77, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Manor Care Nursing Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow, with military honors at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Larry Renfer, Sr. was born on August 6, 1941 to Franklin C. and Maxine (Pollack) Renfer in Central City, Iowa. Following graduation from high school, Larry enlisted in the US Navy; where he proudly served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was united in marriage to Mary C. Brown on February 17, 1961 in Seattle, Washington. Larry enjoyed all things outdoors including camping, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Larry E. Jr. (significant other, Nancy); Kelly Novak (Doug); Cindy Weiland (John); 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, with one on the way; 3 siblings, Judy Kula (Ken); Jerry (Linda) and Joanne Shedak (Kevin); and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William.
