Mrs. Gongwer was a wonderful person, a wonderful neighbor and a wonderful friend. Our deepest sympathies to her family from the entire Day family.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom and Jack and Jill Preschool are one of my favorite memories. Long after I "graduated" to Kindergarten, I would go past the house and get such a warm feeling. I was lucky enough to still see her since my parents were good friends with yours. She had such a positive impact on everyone around her! I imagine her and Si are up there playing cards with my folks.

Greg, I remember that you took nuts for your mother to feed the squirrels.
I never met her, but from the way you spoke of her, I am sure she was a wonderful lady
Don’t think I have an email or phone for you
Take care, and remember all those good times

I just loved Mrs. Gongwer at Jack & Jill Preschool. Both Mrs. Gongwers were special ladies. I remember the homemade play-dough the most. RIP Mrs. Gongwer and thank you for the fun and special memories.

I, too, attended Jack & Jill Preschool on Johnson Avenue. I have very, very fond memories of my days with the other children and Mrs. Gongwer as we had just moved to Iowa from England. She had the cleanest fence in all of Cedar Rapids! [We could choose a bucket of water and paintbrush to "paint" the fence.] It is my hope that her grandchildren got to benefit from her creativity and educational approach, as I did.
