David C. Wheatley, 71, Cedar Rapids, passed away November 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born February 2, 1947 in Corning, Iowa to Charles and Louise Wheatley. He graduated from Rockwell City High School and Iowa State University. David was in the ROTC program at ISU, and later served as a naval officer during the war in Vietnam. Dave and Joyce Ross were married on October 16, 1976 in Cedar Rapids. Dave was an engineer and worked for FMC, Goss and Clipper before retiring in 2016. Dave was active in the Cedar Valley Street Rods Association for over 40 years.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his wife, Joyce, a brother Don, sister Nancy, and other family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
