Dorothy Mae Williams, 93, formerly of Cedar Rapids, daughter of Guy Franklin Williams and Julia Ann Pilcher, was born on September 18, 1924 in St. Peter, Illinois. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dorothy loved to cook and always found time to bake for those who stopped by and visited. In her spare time, she read books, crocheted and always did the crossword puzzles in ink. Dorothy was an avid volunteer and member of numerous organizations over the years; Rainbow Girls (Mother Advisor), Eastern Star (Conductress), managed a retail children’s store called Seven Seas in Vero Beach, FL., Stephen Ministries (created a low vision group), and taught Sunday School at Community Church. She learned to read and type Braille because of her macular degeneration.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both of her parents, Julia and Guy Williams; siblings, Guy D. Williams, Ruby G. Williams Boesenberg and Robert G. Williams.
She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Muhl (Steve) and Deborah Gifford (Mike); granddaughters, Alisha Muhl Koborg (Brian) and Ashley Muhl. Great-grandchildren, Hayley and Beau Koborg.
Dorothy will always be remembered as the loving mother of two darling daughters and will be truly missed. To have known her is to love her.

A memorial service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
