David Marcus Brower, 60, of Marion passed away March 9th at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Mark had been a patient at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics since January 6. Mark had a short, but intense battle with acute Myeloid Leukemia. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, March 13, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, March 14 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Mark was born on July 29, 1955, in Los Alamos, New Mexico to Paul and Naomi (Grimes) Brower. Mark graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington
High School in 1973. Mark’s college education included Iowa State University, Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa, where he received his Mechanical Engineering degree.
From 1995-2003, Mark was a founding partner for Stone City Brewing, LTD. in Solon, Iowa, along with Luke Ames and Jeff and Sally Allen. His engineering skills were a great help in the building of the brewery from recycled dairy equipment. After the opening of the brewery, he worked in the day to day operations of the brewery for another three years before joining the staff at uljogjkl;Rockwell-Collins.
In February of 2005, Mark married Marilyn Triggs. Mark’s life was becoming very busy! Mark also gained two step-sons, J.D. and Andy Triggs; but more importantly J.D. and Andy gained a dad. Mark brought a steadiness and a spark to our family. We were often entertained and endeared with Mark’s sense of humor and his vast array of stories. Mark was the “go to guy” for everyone and for everything. He loved that role and was always ready to help others. Mark was a loving husband and step-dad. Words can not express our loss, but we cherish the memories we have had as a family.
During Mark’s employment at Rockwell Collins, he was recognized for the development of three patents. He truly was a “rocket scientist”. Mark retired in October of 2015 from Rockwell Collins as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Mark will be missed by all of those who were fortunate to have been a part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Marion; step-sons, Dr. John (J.D.) Triggs and his fianceé Maria Miller of Milwaukee, WI and Dr. Andrew Triggs of Amarillo, TX and his friend, Dr. Christine Topliff of Denver, CO; mother-in-law, Geraldine Busching of Waverly; sisters, Susan (Scott) Clark of Cedar Rapids and Sally (Jeff) Allen of Solon; brother, Brian Brower of Cedar Rapids; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milan (Marjorie) Busching of VeVay, IN; Lee (Glenda) Busching of Waverly; nieces, Cherie Allen of Solon, Laurie Busching of Cedar Falls; nephews, John (Bickie) Loney of Minneapolis; Ben Busching of VeVay, IN; and Luke Busching of Waverly; great-nephew, James Busching of VeVay, IN; and great-niece, Bunny Loney of Minneapolis, MN.
