Memorial
Irene E. Berger, 100, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday November 30, 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Karl (Lou Alice) Berger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Stephen Berger and friend, Kathleen Poldberg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a sister, Marjorie Wiese of South Dakota. Also surviving is 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Berger and 7 siblings.
Irene was born October 12, 1915 in Fedora, South Dakota, the daughter of George and Mary (Fiedler) Carpenter. She married Richard Elvert Berger in April of 1937 in (city). Irene worked for Blue Cross Insurance Company, Senior Clerk for S.A.G. and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bowling, winning many trophies, traveling and dancing, with the honor of dancing with Lawrence Welk.
