Memorial
James P. Hubert of Robins, age 78, went to be with his Savior, Jesus, on April 3, 2026 after a short battle with cancer. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home Thursday, April 9, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, April 10th, at Faith Bible Church 1800 46th Street NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
James was born on January 5, 1948 in Red Wing, MN to Walter and Gladys (Kittleson) Hubert. He graduated from Rothsay (MN) High School in 1966, where his father was the superintendent. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He played the tuba in the band. After high school, he earned an Electrical Engineering degree from North Dakota State University. While in college he was in the ROTC program. After college, he served in the Army for three years, reaching the rank of Captain. After discharge, James worked as an electrical engineer for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 35 years. He also worked at Trapeze for a number of years. He was active in his church serving as an elder, Missions’ Treasurer, and on the Board of Trustees. He had a heart for missions and spent a year on Guam with Trans World Radio operating radio transmitters. He enjoyed studying the Bible, reading about history, traveling, riding his bicycle, and spending time with his family.
James is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Weber) Hubert; children Sherilyn Hubert and Timothy (Kelly) Hubert; grandson Kyle James Hubert; brother David (Carol) Hubert; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; uncles and aunts, and many cousins.
