Gary Paul Thompson, 74, of Marion, died unexpectedly Saturday November 21, 2015. A graveside service will be held on Friday November 27, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 – 12:45 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki, his children; Robin (Barry) Michaelis of Kalona, Iowa, Steve (Teresa) Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melissa (Ron) Abernathy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Travis Arnold of Marion, Iowa, Richard (Denise) Arnold of North Liberty, Iowa, Berry Arnold of Longmont, Colorado and Bryan (Maria) Arnold of Lisbon, Iowa, Joey Arnold, Hollywood, California. Also surviving is a sister Karen (Dave) Long, of Iowa City, Iowa and 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Curtis Arnold.
Gary was born December 10, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Merton and Helen (Vevra) Thompson. He married Vicki on August 27, 1977 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gary was in sales in the retail industry. Gary’s hobbies were taking photos, leather tooling and wood crafting. He liked to fish.
