Carl Richard Eggers, age 80 died Saturday August 29, 2015 at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday September 3, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. 

Surviving are his children Sharon (Ron) Teufel of Cedar Rapids, Kim (John) McSweeny of Marion, Lisa (Randy) Rothmeyer of Cedar Rapids and Mark (Denise Cisler) Eggers of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren John (Jo), Tia, Aaron (Emily), Jaime, Ryan, Courtney, Daniel and Sara; 2 great-grandchildren Brendan and Olivia; He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, siblings Doris Nielsen, Mary Cornelius, Betty Loomis, Robert Eggers, Audrey Carlin, Roger Eggers and John Eggers;

Carl Richard Eggers was born January 24, 1935 in Prescott Wisconsin. He was the son of John and Mable Gerhardt Eggers. Carl joined the United States Air Force on February 6, 1952 and served his country overseas during the Korean War. After returning Home, Carl married the love of his life, Betty Jean Bach on May 8, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Carl went to work for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1990. Carl served in the Iowa National Guard for over eight years, traveling to Germany.  

Carl worked very hard through his life to ensure family was well cared for, sometimes working two and three jobs at a time.  He enjoyed gardening and loved to share his prized produce with family and friends. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Bell with Unity Point and the nurses and staff at Northbrook Manor Care Center.

Carl was a loving Husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
