Memorial

Steven James Sloan of Hiawatha passed away March 20, 2026. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM. A livestream of the memorial service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Steven, under the video tab starting at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 7th. Inurnment with military honors will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
 
Steven was born on June 20, 1944, in Emmetsburg, IA, the son of Daryl William and Nellie Virginia (Workman) Sloan. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Steve had worked as an electrical technician at Rockwell-Collins until retirement in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed watching football and basketball games - especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed playing North Dakota Rummy, both listing to and playing good music with family and friends.
 
Survivors include his sons, Scott Sloan & Kathie Smith of Sheridan WY , James & Carol Sloan of Cheyenne, WY along with grandsons Cameron Sloan of Cheyenne, WY , Joshua & Ansley Sloan of Denver, CO; brother/sister-in-law Charles & Diane Sloan of Sun Lakes, AZ;  sister-in-law, Kayla Sloan with Darrel Dennis of Marion, IA,  sister-in-law Carol Sloan of Omaha NE, step children, Don Tomanka with step grandson Jake Tomanka, Connie Tomanka  with step grand-daughter Deserae Paige, Ron & Terri Tomanka; and their families.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents, Brothers Alan Sloan and William Sloan, Jackie Sloan and step grandson Myles Trout
