Mark Devin Jourdan, 59, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Monday April 6, 2026, following a courageous battle with Early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD).
A visitation will be held on Sunday April 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Mark, which will include great food, good drinks and live music, will take place at The Classic Event Center located at 3607 1st Ave SE. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 20, 2026, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mark was born on September 14,1966 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of David and Judy (Davis) Jourdan. Mark lived most of his life in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Regis High School in 1985 where he excelled in football. He then graduated from Coe College. He negotiated contracts for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 22 years as a Contracts Manager for Military Avionics and Copters, until he retired in 2021. Mark enjoyed sharing stories about his business travels around the world with everyone he met.
Mark lived life with a sense of adventure and a heart full of love. He loved his children with all his heart and his most cherished moments were spent with them. Above all he loved being a dad to Odessa and Owen. His favorite memories with them were made at Bever Park. He made friends everywhere he went.
Mark was blessed to have an overabundance of friends. The roots he laid at Iowa State continued to grow throughout his life. Mark enjoyed softball and played for several years with a great group of guys, here in Cedar Rapids.
As Mark progressed through tough times, he continued to make his friends a priority. Up until the very end he had an impact on those around him, notably his friends at the Chris and Suzy DeWolf Innovation Center. Their kind and gentle friendships helped him navigate some of the most challenging times of his life. He was always surrounded by friends and created special memories at Cubs games, Hawkeye games, music festivals and on the softball field and golf courses. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved going to the games cheering them on with passion. Mark loved music and spent many nights with friends at outdoor concerts. He spent many hours in his backyard gardening, caring for his plants, and throwing parties for family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Odessa and Owen, his parents, David and Judy Jourdan, his sisters, Kerry (Steve Jonesi) Jourdan- McSperrin and Alissa Jourdan, his nieces Kallie and Kassidy McSperrin and Lela Jourdan, his nephew Connor McSperrin, his great nephew Callum McSperrin, his aunts Sondra Davis Craig (Terry Morris) and Catherine Jourdan, his uncle Bill (Brenda) Jourdan, his cousins Jeremiah (Elliot Homburg) Jourdan, Holly (John) McGarry, Caitlin Jourdan (Mark Marsico), Tori Jourdan (Louie Langanke). He was preceded in death by his grandparents T.G. and Evelyn Davis, Bonnie and Duke Jourdan, and Mary Bayley, his cousin Jon Davis and uncle Jim Davis.
Memorials may be directed to Kiss Your Kids Foundation and The Chris and Suzy DeWolf Family Center for Aging and Dementia in memory of Mark.
