Memorial
Judith Frank Johnson passed away at age 86 on February 5th, 2025, having lived a joyous life, much of it in Iowa City.
She graduated from City High in 1955, and from the University of Iowa as a registered nurse in 1959, then held many nursing and medical positions throughout her career. She returned to City High as a para educator in her pre-retirement years.
Judy was a lifelong lover of music and the arts. She sang with Voices of Experience, took a number of art classes through the Senior Center, and made a point to attend a variety of performances in the City of Literature.
She also gained a wonderful sisterhood as an active member of PEO from 1981 onward.
Judy married Dean Johnson and raised four sons, Jeff, Joel, Greg, and Kyle.
She is survived by three siblings, her four sons, four daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
There will be no service, as Judy has elected to gift her remains to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program, helping to teach future medical professionals about the human body. After the anatomical study period, her remains will be placed next to her husband’s at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church Cemetery
