I was very saddened to see my friend and United Fire colleague had passed. My condolences to Wil's family. I worked with Wil at United Fire and got to know him through visits in HR and stopping to visit whenever we saw one another. He was such a great guy, he had wonderful personality to lead a HR department. His caring nature for his fellow employees and his willingness to fight for what was right made him perhaps the best HR person I have ever encountered. After he retired I would run into him occasionally at local restaurants and he always stopped to visit. Great Hawkeye, greater man. Godspeed Wil.

Nadine and family, I just learned of Wil’s passing. I worked with him many years ago at Norand and remember him as such a compassionate, fun loving individual. My condolences to the family.

My condolences to the family. I was saddened to hear of his passing. My dad (George Burgess) one of his best friends at Boy’s Town fondly referred to him as Hollis. I have fond memories as a child of them both together. Unfortunately, we lost touch after my dad passed in ‘83. Now two dear friends are reunited again in eternal peace.

God bless your family. A excellent role model for all. RIP

Condolences to the Hollis family. I worked at United Fire and met Wil in a unique way. He was taking a break on the skywalk by UFG & we got to chatting. I didn't know who Wil was at the time, but it was obvious that he was a Hawkeye fan. Over a string of chance meetings, he would share sports memories of both Boys Town and Univ of IA... not one to brag, only to recount the high points. More than once he expressed his fond respect for fellow Iowa QB Randy Duncan. Wil, thanks for the sharing your Hawkeye memories with me.

Nadine, my sister forwarded Wil's obituary today. I feel so bad for you and your family. Wil was a really special person and a great friend. It's nice to remember the great times we shared.

Nadine, I’m so sorry to hear of Wil’s passing. Wil was a great manager to work for. He respected his employees and had our backs. Boss, rest in eternal peace. Zondra (Z)

Nadine, so sorry to hear about Wil. Sending much love and sympathy to you and your family. No easy way to say goodbye! You took such good care of Wil; hope wonderful memories can help to fill the empty spot in your heart. Much love and big hugs, Dot

My condolences to Will's family. I worked with Will at UFG. He was such a nice and caring man. RIP Will.

Wil hired me in the early’80’s & gave me my first opportunity in Human Resources. He could be tough, but he was a great mentor & I learned so much from him. I loved talking with him about his life, Boys Town, the Hawkeyes, & previous HR positions he held. He was a great guy & I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have known and learned from him. Nadine & Scott, I pray that over time you will find peace within your grief. Wil, may the Lord bless you & protect you; may the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord show you his favor, and give you his peace. I hope to see you once again someday my friend. God bless.
