Amy K. Sellers, 62, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Per Amy’s wishes private services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Amy was born on June 10, 1964, the daughter of Donald and Sharon (Myers) Binner. She worked in various retail and entertainment jobs until marrying the love of her life, Sheldon Sellers, on April 1, 2006, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Together, Amy and Sheldon enjoyed traveling and making wonderful memories, including trips to Cabo, Mexico, and fishing adventures in Minnesota. Amy truly loved the outdoors and was happiest camping, fishing, or simply relaxing beside a campfire.
When she wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, Amy could often be found adding to her collection of handbags and accessories. She had a knack for finding the perfect piece for every occasion. Later in life, Amy discovered the joy of cooking and loved preparing meals for her family and friends. Sharing her meals with those she cared about became another special way for Amy to bring people together.
Amy also had a lifelong love for animals and welcomed an extraordinary variety of pets into her life over the years, including a cockatoo, a wolf, and even a boa. Her love of animals extended to horses, which she enjoyed breaking and training, as well as showing rabbits. Her adventurous spirit, love of nature, and affection for animals were all special parts of the person she was.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother Evelyn Myers, and her mother-in-law Delores Sellers.
Left to cherish Amy’s memory is her loving husband of 20 years, Sheldon; her sisters, Lisa (Cliff) Barker of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Mary Beth (Dale) Sexton of Vinton, Iowa; her brothers-in-law, Kevin (Laurel) of Iowa City, Iowa, Chad (Sussie) of Des Moines, Iowa, Wyndham (Nancy) of Prole, Iowa, and Darren (Terry) of Vinton, Iowa; along with many extended family members and close friends who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to an animal welfare organization of your choice in Amy’s memory, honoring her lifelong love and compassion for animals and wildlife.
