Sandy Carlene (Wilson) Neiderhiser, 72, of Ames, Iowa passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 1pm to 4pm Sunday, December 10th at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom in Cedar Rapids. There will be no service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Sandy was born Dec. 28, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Tom & Wilma Wilson. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School in 1969 and then earned a teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Sandy taught elementary and special education at North Linn and later special education in Nevada. She married John Neiderhiser in 1997. John graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1969 also. Their paths never crossed until the 1990’s, but each wished they had met much earlier.

As best friends and kindred spirits, Sandy helped John design & build their own homes, and all sorts of cabinets and furniture for the homes. The quality and satisfaction with their work was rewarding for both. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, John Neiderhiser; son, Kyle Dusil (Erika) and daughter Carly Dusil (Michael); grandchildren, Sydney, Justice, Quinn; sisters, Teri Barnhart and Barb Prior (Mark); brothers, Thom Wilson (Sandy) and Wayne Wilson as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Wilma Wilson and brothers, David Wilson and William Wilson.
