Doris Mae Kurrelmeyer passed away peacefully November 25, 2022.
She was born July 9, 1924, in Colesburg, Iowa to Arthur and Ruth Steinfadt and she was the apple of their eyes.
Doris graduated from Colesburg, Iowa high school and then from Upper Iowa College with a teaching degree. In 1947 she married Duane Kurrelmeyer, her high school love. They were married 65 years. They had two daughters.
Before marriage, Doris taught school in Guttenberg, Iowa. After she and Duane married, they moved to Cedar Rapids and raised their daughters. Doris prided herself on being a seamstress and a fabulous cook. Doris and Duane were lifelong active members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. They loved the Hawkeyes, traveling, and had a wide circle of friends that they enjoyed playing cards and potlucks with. Doris was also a longtime member of the PEO Sisterhood and was initiated into Chapter LF in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of the Sisterhood until her death.
She is survived by her daughters Pam (Jack) Douda, Kim (Mark) Schleisman, 2 granddaughters Kim (Bill) Propst, Kelley (Duane) Yock, 1 grandson Andrew Schleisman and 3 great grandsons Chase Propst, Jakob Yock, and Max Yock. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Her funeral service will be held November 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in the chapel. A luncheon will follow.
