Doug was born on October 13, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold and Harriet (Dauchy) Johnson. Doug graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School and later Iowa State University. He was united in marriage to Deeanna Fish on July 12, 1975, in Cedar Rapids. Doug was very passionate about God’s creation and became a Board Certified Master Arborist. His career began as a Forester at the Yellow River State Forest in Allamakee County. He next served as Linn County Forester for twenty-three years. Doug started his own landscaping business, Total Scapes in 1996. He was very proud to have his son Jamie join him and take over the business. Doug enjoyed fishing and taking road trips to Wisconsin and Galena, IL. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He looked forward to mowing days with his older grandchildren and telephone calls with the younger grandchildren. Doug was a lifetime member of New Covenant Bible Church. His faith was in God. Doug is certainly in a better place now.

Survivors include his children Jamie (Kara) Johnson of Springville, Kip (Jason) Johnson of North Liberty, and Anna (Jeff) Burgess of Vinton, grandchildren Silas Johnson (12), Oliver Johnson (9), Jonas Johnson (7), River Johnson (4), and Chad Burgess (2), siblings Craig (Mary) Johnson of Sherwood, OR Sue Clark of Springville, and Judie (Jim) Johnson of Princeton, IA. He is also survived by his wife's sisters, Connie Kruger, Cindy Heller, Micki Chmelar, and their spouses, his wife's brother Loyal, and his brother in law Richard Carver, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Deeanna in 2009; brother-in-law Paul Clark in 2017; and sisters-in-law Kathy Shramek in 1992 and Judy Carver in 2020.

In lieu of flowers or a monetary donation, we ask that you would plant a tree in memory of Doug.
