My heartfelt condolences to Mike's family. Mike was a great chef and great culinary manager but more importantly he was a great person. He could be intimidating at first and come off as a big ol' grizzly bear but inside was just the most caring, thoughtful person that couldn't hurt a fly. I will miss our talks about Star Trek, Star Wars, Game of thrones, hawkeye football, politics, society and just joking around. Laughing with him about his endless gym routines (which he loved the gym), his excruciating critiques of his golf handicap in golfing leagues, and he never missed a chance to run (or he might say walk a little bit) marathons for Cancer awareness in honor of his late Sister. He loved his brother in law and his niece very, very much and was very thankful for all of their help these past years. it was an honor to have worked with him and visited with him during good times and bad. It took awhile before he would stop calling me his boss when introducing me to some of the medical staff during his hospital stays, but in the end Mike was my friend and I was his. I can say I have not seen anyone fight so hard and for so long in his battle with cancer, he truly was one of his favorite movie characters-Star Lord.
