George, Paula, Georgia, & Sylvia, I was so saddened about reading in the Oelwein & CR Gazette about Paulette's, known to me as "Squeaky/Squeak," death. It was a good picture & great obituary. Things I had forgotten. We were very good friends in high school@ EB. She & I loved playing on our basketball team together. Squeak was tiny but mighty. She could make those long shots, & they would have counted as 3 points today. I stayed overnight a few times at her house. Remember sitting around the kitchen table eating & talking with her parents & quiet Ed. She would get the car, & we would drive around Aurora, Stanley, & Oelwein. We went to dances at the Armory in Oelwein. There were a few times we doubled dated with our sweeties. I also remember visiting her in Hazelton after she was married to George. She was so happy being married & being a teacher. From the other condolences I read, she was well thought of as a wonderful teacher by co-workers & students. Neither one of us was good at keeping in touch with one another. Last time I saw her was at Tom's (my husband) & her 50th high school class reunion in 2013--- quite a while ago. We had a super time talking & trying to catch up. She told me that night, that she had to come to see me. She knew I would be with Tom for their 50th. She had stopped coming to earlier reunions & didn't come back for the 55th. She did tell me that George & she were having some health problems. Sorry to say we never saw or communicated with one another again. Now I regret that. It is sad to think how close our friendship was, but we lost touch. Never thought about one of us dying. There were lots of great memories for me. Now she has a new eternal resurrected life with God. May Paulette rest in peace. If anyone feels like writing to me, I would appreciate knowing how she died & how her life was the last few years. Please except our sympathies. Tom & Christy Benz (Grapes)

Our deepest sympathy to you George & your family on the loss of Paulette. She was a sweet person. I hope the cherished memories you have will help get you through this painful time. Our thoughts & prayers are with all of you.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I taught with Paulette for many years at Marion. She was a wonderful, dedicated teacher and colleague. Paulette had such a positive influence on her students and touched many lives, including mine. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

She was the best teacher I had at Marion. She was always helpful and her teaching skills were great. My prayers to the family. She will be missed so much.

I was one of her students in the 1993-1994 school year. I was privileged to have many fine teachers at Marion, but Mrs. Follmer will always be one of the first who comes to my mind. If every child in the world had a Mrs. Follmer, it would be a much brighter one. My sincere condolences.

We were so sorry to hear of Paulette's passing. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. God bless.

May the Lord bless you all, George, your daughters, and grandchildren in this time of sorrow and loss. I remember fondly the many times long ago that we spent together as family in the various holidays throughout each year, often at Bill & Mary Follmer's house in Stanley, IA.

When I, as Mrs. Tanner, taught 4th grade at Emerson, Paulette and I had many great conversations. Also, we remember her collection of Care Bears in her home when we visited. Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Andrew and Genny Yarne

Mrs. Follmer was my 5th grade teacher. She was so kind to her students and an excellent teacher. I remember Social Studies in particular- she taught us about all of the world explorers and she taught us how to take good notes and prepared her students well for middle school and beyond. My sincere condolences to the Follmer family. My prayers are with you.

I taught with Paulette years ago. She was a good teacher and a great person. So sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

Mrs. Follmer was a fine teacher. She expected the best from her students at Longfellow Elementary, and she got it. Of all the teachers I had in grades K-12, Mrs. Follmer stands out in my memories. It was a difficult year for her personally but she made sure her students knew she cared for them. I have thought about her courage many times through the decades since then. My prayers go to the Follmer family in your loss.

My deepest sympathy in your loss of Paulette. I had the privilege of knowing her when I worked at FMI. We had many conversations after school. She was such a dedicated teacher and such a sweet lady. May the Lord comfort you at this time. Arlene

Dear Georgia and family, We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It seems like a long time ago that you, Kelly, Jeanne, Karin and others were in high school and so involved in band. Though we did not know your mom well, we shared time cheering at marching competitions and applauding at concerts. I know that you will treasure wonderful memories of her.

Dear Paula, I am so sorry for you & all of your family on the loss of your Mother. May peace be with all of you ..Bob Rainwater

Dear George, Paula, and Georgia, My prayers for you in the loss of Mrs. Follmer. I always loved her as my 5th grade teacher and learned so much from her. I found it pure privilege to teach both of your daughters, George in 5th grade... what a wonderful circle of life. She was a wonderful educator and touched many lives that way. I am sure, knowing her, as I did, she was a wonderful mother too... Blessings to all of you...

Sending many prayers ??. I remember her from when I went to Emerson many years ago. She was a wonderful teacher and she touched many lives.

I am truly sorry for the family's loss. Mrs. Follmer was my favorite school teacher of all times.

Paulette and George were good customers and friends of ours for years at the Suburban Restaurant in Marion. Some of the "regulars" that made our business a gathering place, where many friendships were formed as time passed by. We are very sad to hear of her passing. She was a great person and teacher. God Bless you George and your entire family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Cris and Daniel Cosman

Our hearts are with you in this sad time. Fond memories growing up and spending holiday's together. -Jerry and Annette Bartachek
