We are saddened by the death of Carleen, a long-time friend of Indian Creek Nature Center. Carleen and Gene were supporters of the Nature Center for many years, each having volunteered in the early days. Carleen served as an early member of the Guild (Friends of the Nature Center) and remained an enthusiastic champion. Carleen and Gene always enjoyed supporting ICNC’s intern program. In the 2000s, Carleen donated their family’s property to the Nature Center. We are grateful for Carleen’s many years of support and extend our condolences to her family and all who knew her.

I had the privilege of getting to know Carleen and Gene Grandon many years ago, as a teenager, when our families lived in the same apartment building. Carleen loaned me books and Gene straightened my broken nose. My family also remembers Carleen as our father's friend who shared the later stages of his life, providing comfort and support. She stayed with him during the last days of his life and was with him when he passed away. She was stalwart in her support and graceful in every way. We also had many enjoyable evening dinners with Carleen. She was a wonderful conversationalist who participated in all manner of topics. She could have sobering discussions and was certainly not averse to a cocktail. All of us are saddened by her passing but are left with many fond memories. Carleen - we toast to you and a life well-lived.

A woman of Sincerity and Grace who had a meaningful impact upon my life! Grateful for the in-person adventures shared ~ though few and years apart ~ each came at an important time in my life!! Raising a glass !! Thank You

My family and I worked for Dr. and Carleen Grandon for many years at their pool house area doing tree work. They were both great people to work for and never treated us like "we worked for them". RIP Carlene and tell Doc hi for us.

Carleen was a wonderful woman, client, and friend. I loved her so much! She was like a mom to me. She had a wonderful presence about her. She was my client for 25 years. We would talk business, and about the family that she was very fond of. My staff and I will miss her! Pam Reilly Hair Studio and staff! I will miss her so much!

Tanager Place shares our most sincere sympathy to Carleen's friends and family. Carleen was a longtime ally of Tanager Place. Her heart for philanthropy changed the lives of many youth at Tanager Place throughout her 20 years of support for the mission. Her love for services including play therapy, expressive arts, and inpatient cottages was deeply felt and appreciated. May joyful memories fill your hearts with peace and comfort during this difficult time.
