What a beautiful soul and lady. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Matt.

I know this is late, our daughter got married this weekend and we just were not able to get there. I read the obit, and all of these condolences and was thinking how few people in life positively effect so many. What a life-giver she was to so many. Childhood memories at good ole Immaculate Conception are strong. I am grateful for the memories as our moms kept our families together for many years. Prayers to all of you as you find hope in the promise of the Resurrection., Norm and Amy Frisch

I am still trying to process the fact that one of the most influential person's in my life is now in the presence of our Lord. Red is in the most beautiful place, heaven. She's now saying "Love ya" instead of "God love ya" because she is in His embrace. My memories of Red are so long, and everyone of them is so heart-filled and full of smiles, laughter, and love..... some with tears. I remember when I graduated college that she tracked me down, and came to my friends just to give me a card and big hug (one of my recents). That's what her whole life was, making others feel loved and welcomed in her life. Her legacy will not be easy, dang near impossible to match. She's always been a 2nd mother to me, and she will be deeply missed, until our time comes to embrace her loving hugs once again. I love you Mamma Red!

When we moved to Cedar Rapids over 23 years ago, we were looking for a preschool for our daughter Caroline. We went into one school where a teacher asked her to join her circle time, From that moment, Caroline said Red was her teacher. We looked no further. Caroline loved going to preschool and I loved talking with Red each day. I remember during the space unit, Red wrapped a motorcycle helmet in aluminum foil and was an astronaut for the day. She cared so much for the kids and make learning so much fun. I smile when I think of her. Hugs to her whole family. She was one very special teacher we will have in our hearts forever.

Prayers to all the Rissi family, May the Holy Spirit enkindle you’re fresh remembrance of a great woman, and know one day all will be reunited. May God bless you all in this time of hurt and sadness.

Matt, I was saddened to hear of Jeannie's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Sincerely, Mike and Becky Siegel

Red (and her family) touched the lives of many – even those she didn’t know directly. Her compassion and energy were inspiring. The Willis Dady family is holding your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Both Red and I had great fun playing together as we grew up on Church Rd. Me in the middle of Carla and her. We were the only redheads in the family at the time. Now, Heather can carry on.... Loved her and enjoyed seeing her every time she came to IL. I visited IA and brought Heather back home on the bus, it was a great trip and I enjoyed your home so much! A great loss, she will be missed by all! Always in our hearts...… I am sending a picture of your mom when she was 5.

I went to high school with Marilyn. I never had the opportunity to meet Red. I just wanted to extend my sympathy to the family. You all will be in my prayers.

Everyone mourns differently. Hold tight together and be understanding of one another. Our deepest Condolences. Matt, Kara, Cormack and Kullen Danskin

Being a young boy and growing up around Reds family she always made me feel at home. I remember hunting for frogs with Zach over at the house in Hiawatha so Red could make frog legs. I am very sorry for your families loss.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss Matt and family, wishing you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I remember warmth from Red, that is my strongest recollection. She always treated me with a smile, the fact that I was distant family meant nothing. She always welcomed my mother, my siblings and I into her home for the holidays. I remember the first couple times I met her, I asked myself if she had me confused with someone she knew better. This was just her way. She was warm, caring and loving to all. The world needs more people like her, she will be missed. My prayers go out to the family now. Loss is tough, especially when we lose such a special person.

I sit in my garden this morning and continue to bereave & reflect on the love and respect that Red shared with others who crossed her path. We would all agree that one naturally walked away feeling lighter in their soul upon sharing a conversation with her. My fondest memory of Red is when her heart was moved to purchase a saint’s or holy one’s medallion/pendant for one she was interceding for. I’m reminded this morning that the September Morning Glory is a truistic symbol of Red’s lasting character:) •September •Love •Respect •Mortality Red’s mortal•ness leaves us with an example of the importance of living with loving respect and human dignity towards our loved ones, acquaintances and strangers. Red was an Earth angel & Saint. “I humbly hope you will welcome me Red with your open arms when it is my time to pass over.” My sincere love, Sherry Veronica Westercamp ??

My deepest sympathy to "Red's" family. May your love and memories of Red bring you Peace and Comfort during this difficult time. An Angel on earth and now, an Angel in heaven . Peace and Prayers for you all

Deepest condolences to Matt and the entire Rissi family! Red certainly made a positive impact on all she connected with and lit up up any place she was at.

A wonderful happy family member, first cousin , she will be missed, wish we could have been with her more, We shared the squirrels and frogs with her at clubhouse on the old Mississippi river, clubhouses still there, Beautiful girl, SORRY FOR YOUR AND OUR LOSS!!! Promise she will be in our prayers.

My husband, Justin Kahle, and I send our deepest condolences. I loved reading her memorial because what I do remember about Red, from being around her in my late teens, was how vibrant she was and how truly great a listener. She hosted Justin’s hockey friends (Matt Kelly and Gary Vorgity) in her home and was so generous with also offering her home up to me and Lynne Abrams, who was dating Gary Vorgity, when we were hanging around. Her zest for life and bright lipsticks always mesmerized me as a young lady. I would wonder, “how is it that a mom is THIS cool?” Bless your family during this difficult time. I hope it brings some peace to know how deeply Red was adored by so many.

Another angel earned her wings too soon. It's not goodbye but see ya later. It was always good to see you when you and Matt were in town. Italian Fest in particular was the last time I believe. You were quite the prankster though too especially when you visited the Dellamano's. So I will carry on your tradition in remembrance of you. You would be soo proud. May you rest in peace "Red" as my heart goes out to your family and friends.

May she rest in eternal peace in the arms of the Lord. She graced this Earth with such charm and love. We now have St. "Red" Jeannine in heaven, Matt and family. Prayers for all of you at this difficult time. She would want you to find peace and she knows how much you loved her. Keep all the memories in your hearts. Tom & Joan Galloro

I cannot express how saddened I am to hear of your darling girl’s untimely passing. Always a kiss, always a smile, always. I was behind the bar serving up cokes and potato chips with Ranch to Zach and Nate. Zach was rattling because Nate double dipped. And Red said...as only she could...”Zach...tattling is a bigger crime than double dipping your chips”. God she was a beauty. I so admired her for many things. My most heartfelt condolences to you all...love N.

As with all the others who have left their condolences, we too leave our deepest sympathies to "Red's" family. She had an infectious smile and heart of gold! I think everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her would agree that she could light up a room and make everyone feel like a close friend in the matter of moments! We hope your memories of her will help to fill the void in your hearts....thoughts and prayers to all of her family and friends.

Deepest sympathy to you and your families, Matt. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

What a gracious lady, a classic ahead of her time. My deepest sympathy along with a prayer for all.

Our sincerest sympathies to you, Matt, your family and all of our cousins, Marilyn, Jack, Carla, Terry, Jackie, and Pam. We are all so sorry to hear of Red's passing but we have so many wonderful memories of our time with her growing up. (Those cold winter days of butchering and making that blood sausage; our trip to Texas and getting lost in Dallas late at night and ending up having KFC in our hotel room; playing softball at family gatherings; the trips to the clubhouse; and, just spending time together.) She was always so much fun to be around! We wanted to make the trip up but it was just not possible due to prior commitments. Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers!

My sympathy goes out to the Rissi and Westerheide families during this difficult time. The loss of a loved one is never easy - prayers to all.

Matt, May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family. Please accept my sincere condolences. Mrs. "Red" was one off a kind, I am glad I knew her.

In this time of stillness and greif, we all will remember the joyful impact that Red had on us. Maybe it's been hours, days, month's or year's since we had seen her or been in contact. But I can guarantee whenever it was for any of us, she embraced each one and made each one of us smile. Its bittersweet that she departed on Labor Day weekend, Because for Red she 'labored' in love.

Sincerest condolences to the Rissi family. May God's peace and spirit comfort you.

Matt and Family, Bob and I were very sad to learn of Red's passing. We have many fond memories with you guys at the B Ave Taylor family home. Yes Red was always up for great conversation and she had a very infectious laugh and smile. May your fond memories bring you some comfort in the tough days ahead. Sending you all hugs!!! Praying for all of you.

No matter where I saw her - at Shirley's house or pilates - she was always a delight. She will be sorely missed not only by her family but by anyone that came in contact with her.

A lady that left deep impressions on others. For me, I marveled at her enthusiasm, charm, intelligence and energy, A "can do" whirling dervish of the highest sort. From dust we came and to dust we shall return, but in between we are "at sail" in life and her sails were full! The support of the Catholic Community by the Rissi's has long been appreciated and admired. I can remember back, perhaps near 30 years, when I first encountered the Rissi's as Nate played football at St. Pius X. I pray that family and friends can gather and turn the grief into gratitude; the sadness into celebration. And offer a "well done" in regards to her journey through life and the Blessings she shared with others. May all the Angels, Saints, Holy men and Holy women gather her into God's eternal Grace. Farewell to one of my betters. And may God Bless the memory of a wonderful lady.

My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. May God give you the peace that you seek.

We are so sorry for your loss. Red will be deeply missed, she was a one of a kind lady! I remember the first time meeting her and she hugged me like we were long lost friends. God has gained an amazing Angel. Prayers for the entire family.

My Grade School and high School friend who was always so very sweet and kind to me. I will always remember your beautiful spirit, not to mention your million dollar smile and that gorgeous hair of yours!!! To Matt, your beautiful children and Grandchildren I am so very sorry for your loss. I know her light shines in each and every one of you. Prayers and may God speed.

So very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful, happy lady! I will miss exchanging canned goodies and hugs with her. She always brought smiles to our faces. May all your wonderful memories help guide you in the days to come.

A special gal!! A great employee who really enjoyed life. She was special. Matt - a tremendous loss.

So sorry for your loss. Red was such a sweet person and will be missed. Her memory will be cherished.

Red and I went to grade school (SS.Peter & Paul Catholic in Collinsville) and Collinsville HS together, along with Matt. Matt my friend, I cannot begin to express my regret that this light has been taken from the world. May the good memories of the happiness she brought everyone linger with you forever. Peace to the family.

The first time I met Red, my sister Joanne introduced us at a funeral. I sat beside her and any time she'd hear me sniffle, she'd take my hand. I felt comforted by a strangers hand but it didn't feel like that, it was more like I'd known her forever. I wish I could have known her like Joanne did. My heart is with all of you, family and friends.

So sad to hear of your loss. It was always clear to see how important and special Red was for your family. I hope the special memories you have of her will help to heal some of the pain you are feeling. God bless you all!

So sorry to hear of Reds passing. Thoughts and prayers to everyone. Have not seen Red for a few years but still felt like she was a good friend. She had that way about her!

We are so sorry to hear about Red's passing. Whenever there were company get togethers she was always so friendly and happy to see everyone. We are so sorry that we will be unable to attend the visitation or funeral as we had made plans to be in Washington DC this weekend. Our prayers are with all of her family members and friends.

Whoever wrote the obit appearing in this website got it right. Red was effervescent, undefeatable, strong-willed, generous and warm. Jerry would say more, but you'd have to limit him to 200,000 words or so. We'll miss you, Red, but you'll continue to inspire us, and we look forward to seeing you at the next Party. . .our hearts in sympathy to the family, of which we're grateful to a Loving God to be part.

So sorry and sad to hear that this great woman was no longer with us. Red supported the Cook family through their recent losses this past year and was a strong soul for all of us. Her kindness, her visits, her food and her smile gave us great support. Sending all of our prayers and strength to all of her family. Thinking of all of you, she is a great loss!

Sending many prayers and “Red” hugs to all. My heart aches for those she loved that she left behind knowing she is irreplaceable. Red knew how to make everyone feel like they were apart of her family. Much love and hugs during this time.
