Dear Family, I just heard today from my Mom who must have seen this in the paper. I will truly miss Bob and Judy. Bob was the best math teacher. I was so happy when they joined Believers in Grace. Both of them were so inspiring, always cheerful and such a blessing! I look forward to joining them in worship together again when the Lord returns or takes me home! May our lives give Him as much glory!

Great teacher in the classroom and in sports. Had him as Math teacher, wrestling and football coach. Amazing man! Still to this day I remember his math classes at Franklin Junior High. Him and his overhead projector sitting on his stool. One class period I was goofing off twirling a protractor around my pencil and it flew off and just about hit him. He continued teaching but I didn't the protractor back until the end of the year.

Mr. North was an exceptional teacher. He combined his love of teaching, compassion and sense of humor to motivate his students. He will always be remembered.

Mr North was my 8th trade wrestling coach he could inspire and motivate me in ways others couldn't. So sorry to see he has passed

Now this was one of the greatest teachers and influences in my life. In 8th grade math class Mr. North was the type of teacher who kept our attention, taught and made it fun. More than once I had to dodge an eraser from Mr. North. If you were day dreaming the flying eraser would come your way. Also as my boys club leader at CRCC when Mr. North worked there in the summers as a life guard. I think he invented the "Green Eyed Greens Keeper" legend because if he didn't he could play that to the hilt. While we're tenting out on the course telling ghost stories that guy (Bob) could scare the bejeezus out of us!! Bob - thank you for your spirit, your contribution to our lives and your dedication to education. Our deepest sympathy to the family and may your memories be rich. God Bless.

Thanks to Mr. North’s teaching, I am a GED Math teacher now in a community college. He helped me enjoy math and realize that math and a good sense of humor goes far! What a wonderful man. I am so sorry for your loss.

Hi Bob, so sad to hear of your dad's passing. Dana shared it with me. It's a great picture of him and I have fond memories of him from our younger years. Prayers of comfort for you and your family.

Coach North was a wonderful coach. We won the 8th grade city fooball championship back in 1975 with him , Doug Edwards was his assistant. That team was loaded with talent. I played a starting defensive and offensive tackle, kicked off and once in awhile provided the long bomb. I had the arm then. Coach North made it a lot of fun and out team took to him right way . Good memories of a very good man and teacher.

BEST volleyball and basketball coach ever. He pushed you hard because he saw the potential. He motivated and encouraged. He treated everyone with the utmost respect. HE WAS THE BEST!!

My deepest sympathies to the family of Robert North. He was my 8th grade football and wrestling coach at Franklin Junior High in 1970-71 and he knew how to inspire and motivate young kids to play to their potential. He was a great leader and role model for all.

Bob, I was shocked reading this obit. I am truly sorry for the loss of your dad. He was an awesome guy. I still remember his "sock" story when he taught school. He's hanging with Jesus now.

If someone were to ask me what teachers from my past had the most influence or provided the most inspiration in my life, Mr. North would be at the top of the list. I had the privilege of having him as my Math teacher, but also my Homeroom teacher for 3 years. His positive attitude, acceptance of all students and sense of humor stand out. He epitomizes the saying, that I may not remember exactly what he said or what he did, but I remember how he made me feel. And instantly I remember only happy thoughts and fond memories. Thank goodness for teachers like him. Sympathy and prayers to the family. Here's to a life well-lived.

Bob north was my friend and a good teacher. I had the privilege of working with him at Franklin junior high for a couple of years. It was good for kids and a credit to the teaching profession. I join with the family and celebrating his life and the many kids that he helped to become better people. We are better because he was here. William C. Jacobson

Mr. North by far will always be my favorite math teacher . He made 7th grade math enjoyable. You wanted to learn and he made it so fun. He will be a bright star in the sky. Fly high Mr. North. God Bless his family.

Very sorry to hear of Mr. North's passing . After all the years, I still think of days in his math class. He is in my teachers Hall of Fame

Mr. North, It’s been many, many years since I was in your 8th grade homeroom and math class, but you’ve always been close to my heart. I was so scared and nervous being a new student and having just moved to Iowa. But you made me feel so welcome and I always felt such relief to get back to your classroom! Your calm demeanor and that little sense of humor was so comforting to me. You will always be remembered as a special man and a fantastic teacher.

Mr. North...truly a great teacher...so blessed to be exposed to him. Made math fun, made teaching cool. Energy level was high and desk was groovy! RIP.

Prayers for peace and God's comfort for your family, Mr. North. Loved having you as a teacher and coach at Franklin. Bless you!

RIP Mr. North... You will always be remembered by your students as a fun loving but serious math teacher. The great war stories were always a highlight in class. I was just speaking about you a few months ago on the page " You know you grew up in Cedar Rapids in the 70's & 80's because" I remember you lived in Bowman Woods. I am 61 now and reside in Fla. But my roots will always be in C.R. and that great school Franklin Jr. High. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I always liked his offbeat sense of humour Rest In Peace

It was my great privilege to be a student of Mr. North’s at Franklin. Both his kindness and enthusiasm for math earned him his spot as my favorite teacher. Well done and God speed Sir.

Mr. North was my Teacher at Franklin Junior High school and he knew how to capture students attention. He made math class fun, especially when it wasn’t an easy subject for me. He inspired me as a rebellious teenager to think outside the box and I had an aha moment in his classroom! I’m so very sorry for your loss and I pray you find peace and comfort!

Mr. North was an excellent teacher. Sorry for his families loss.

I'm saddened to read about Bob's passing. He was someone I looked up to as a young man. I rejoice that he is in heaven, with his savior.

His telling stories is true; but he also taught math. To some it maybe a boring topic, but he made it interesting. He is one of the teachers I remember. God bless his family. Thanks for sharing.

Every Franklin Thunderbolt LOVED Mr. North! What a great teacher. He made 7th grade math fun. (That’s not an easy task.) I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful man, truly blessed with a gift for teaching. He made a difference and will be missed. God bless his family.

What a legend. We would beg him all year to share his “last day of school funniest story of all time.” He gave in to my class and told it to us early. It was like the best surprise of all time to hear the story before the last year of school. The 45-minute tale involved a battleship ship with a gigantic row of toilets with no stalls. I recently found a story and photo about him in a box of memorabilia. He would throw erasers above students’ heads to wake us up. God bless him.

Very sorry to hear of Mr. North's passing - Best teacher I ever had!!

We are sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. Though we rejoice that he is in the presence of his Maker it is still a loss. Thankfully, as believers in Jesus who has conquered death we grieve with hope. O death where is your sting? O grave where is your victory! O victory in Jesus our savior forever! Our condolences! Bruce and Jing

Bob will be greatly missed. What a beautiful man of God He was! So happy he is with Jesus now! We are sorry we cannot attend the service because we will be out of town for a family wedding but we will be lifting up the family in prayer - God bless!

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a friend of mine. I am saddened that he passed.
