As was noted at his funeral today, it was also my Mothers birthday. After his service we walked the short distance to her grave and laid a few flowers on it from Dads service. After spending a lot of time with him at the hospice house I came to realize how sensitive and caring he truly was. He had a hard time with emotional displays but in the end he was able to tell both his sons he loved them, and better yet, was able to accept the love that we felt for him. I know he's at peace and I hope there's a challenging golf course for him to play with his departed friends. My brother said it about as honestly as I can...Love you Dad...Rob and Heidi

My father had a beautiful funeral thanks to all of his friends and colleagues. My brother & I were reflecting on how many lives he touched & changed. He was like the song My Way that is how he lived & loved everyone. He didn't want an open casket but he should have he looked handsome and dapper. I'm proud to say he was my father. Love you dad Chuck Hanson

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I have many wonderful & happy memories working with Dick at Rapids Chevrolet. A great man with an awesome family.

Golf is a special game that you share with people for a brief, intense, sometimes frustrating time. It was an honor to be a part of the group that Dick directed and made special, thanks for sharing him with us.

Dear Rob and family. May God give you and your family peace and comfort during this time of grieving for your loss of your Dad. I bought my first car from Dick 61 years ago. Over the years he was my car dealer. I bought many cars and vans from him and always felt like he treated me very fairly. He also always had a great smile on his face and treated me like I was the most important customer. May he rest in God’s loving arms.

Dear Laverna and family members, I am so very sorry to learn of your loss. Wishing you peace and comfort at this difficult time.

Uncle Dick was such a special Uncle to us. Such fond memories of years ago, spending time in Cedar Rapids with our very special Aunt Anita and Uncle Dick, Rob and Chuck. We would always go visit Uncle Dick at the dealership and then shopping and out to lunch. Even though we didn't see him much over the later years, he was always in our hearts. We got to talk recently and I told him I have one regret, that he didn't teach me to play golf years ago. I will play on in his memory and pray he will look over my game. We will always love you and miss you. God Bless and RIP. .

My prayers and thoughts are with the Hanson family during this difficult time. He will be missed by many. Always celebrate his memory.

Always find memories of Christmas waiting for our Cedar Rapids family to show up. Uncle Dick was a man of class and always a welcoming smile! Much love and deepest condolences.

Chuck, Rob, Hallie, Sydney & Courtney. Laverna, Dennie & Greta and Hanson family....sending Love & Prayful thoughts to you all. Dick was a special man, and I saw firsthand how he’d do anything for his Sons and Granddaughters. He’ll be in our hearts forever. The ‘Joy’ on his face when he first held his Great-Grandsons (Elijah & Lorenzo). No doubt in my mind...he found a place in heaven today...to play his beloved game of golf!

Dear Rob, Chuck, Laverna and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. Uncle Dick was a very special uncle. He was always so kind. I will always remember our summers in Iowa and boating with all of you on "Atsa my boat". As teenagers, Uncle Dick always found ways for us to make a little extra money. Doing dealer runs with new cars and getting paid to drive and go have lunch were a special treat! We will always remember Uncle Dick Rest in Peace dear uncle and know that you will live in our hearts forever. Love you Always, Marlene and Joe
