If your a son or daughter you know how wonderful a person your dad was . What if your someone who was not as close ? Sometimes you wonder how others saw him . Herb was my ex-wife's uncle and I knew him maybe a little more than casual but not much . He would invite me into his garage once in a while to show me a project he was working on but reminded me not to touch . My daughter Courtney was very young at the time when I left the keys in my Jeep and she turned the key and accidently started it. Being a manual transmission and in reverse gear , it went across the street , into my neighbor's open garage and ended up almost going through the back . She was safe but the damage was considerable . Without being asked , Herb showed up the next day and started the needed repairs that I could neither do or afford . Some amazing things that I didn't know about Herb I learned by reading his obituary . But what he did for me and my family at the time was all I needed to know about Herb Hazewinkle . Kind , loving , giving and compassion for others was something I didn't need to read about . From myself , Doug , Denny and Courtney our deepest condolences and thanks for your dad .
