Norman L. Bales, 83, of Cedar Rapids died Thursday November 8, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services at 2:00 PM on Monday November 12, 2018 at the Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Ann; three sons, Elliott (Lisa) of Arlington, Virginia; James (Tara) of Charlotte; North Carolina, and Gary (Kelly) of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter Ruby (Richard) Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by three grandchildren Hunter, Audrey, Scott; one great granddaughter Avi, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Norman was born on June 21, 1935 in Bosque County, Texas, the son of Burl and Ruby Lane Bales. He graduated from Abilene Christian College with a degree in Biblical Studies.
Norman married Sarah Ann Williams on December 26, 1959 in Waco, Texas.
He ministered churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New York, Louisiana, and most recently in Iowa. He was also a published author of several books.
Norman enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to “Made in the Streets”.
