Like Dean and Chris, I too was fortunate to get to know Robert Madson - as my supervisor at the City Planning Department in Cedar Rapids during the last four years of his exemplary career there. Those were my formative years as a transportation planner, and I always enjoyed his patience and his wisdom. I have missed him since the day he retired, and regret that won’t get to see him again. I, too, owe a lot to Bob. My sympathies go out to all his friends and family, and I know he is being missed.

Pete was a wonderful man. I always enjoyed spending time with him, hearing his stories and sharing great conversations. He will be missed. Hugs to Jeanette and the family. Laura, Shawn, Quinn and Simon Pfeil

My prayers with your family. Bob was one of my favorite assistance bosses in all my years with the City. He was kind and I loved his sense of humor. He will be missed. Chris Brodt

Bob always made one feel that they were very special to him. I loved his humor and his stories. His peanut butter pies. His generosity. His special notes that he included in cards that Jenette sent. And the jokes from magazines or newspapers that he sent to us. We'll miss him. Jeanette we love you so much. We're Sorry for your loss. We'll see you in a couple of weeks. Thank you Jen, for keeping us informed and letting us feel like we're a part of your family even though we can't be there. Love to all of your wonderful family.

Dear Jeanette, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I didn't realize Bob was ill, he was always such a special person, so refined, but yet full of the devil. Bob and I always bantered back and forth when we met, I loved him dearly. You have been so blessed to have such a wonderful husband. He did so much good for everyone. I will always treasure his memory and the fun times we shared with you both on trips. My sincere sympathy, Hugs to you, Annamae

Bob Madson patiently taught me everything I know, technically and professionally, over 30 years working with him in Cedar Rapids. I owe my career to him. He was an outstanding mentor, but just as important, he was an outstanding human in every way and the world will be worse without him in it.
