Joseph Thompson Shanklin, 90, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Windmill Manor in Coralville. A visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories from 12-1pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 1 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Joseph Thompson Shanklin was born on July 30, 1928; He proudly served his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. Joseph enjoyed riding his bike, being active outside, had a love for dogs, always able to help anyone at any moment, always had a great sense of humor, and loved telling stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Zora.
Left to cherish Joseph’s memories are his significant other Dorothy Fuller of Cedar Rapids and lots of surrogate family.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in Joseph’s name.
